Over the weekend of the 21st and 22nd June Roscommon hosted the Inaugural Irish Mid-Amateur Open Championship and some of the very best of Irish amateur golfers gathered from all parts of Ireland to compete in this prestigious event. The winner of the Intermediate Scratch Cup, sponsored by M.J. Farrell Jewellers, was Tom Judge with 82. In second place was Richard Browne with 83. First net went to Michael Keane with 69 net. The winner of the Minor Scratch Cup, also sponsored by M. J. Farrell Jewellers, was Kieran Madden with 89 (back 9).

The competition for President Joan O’Gara’s prize to the men built up to an exciting climax during the week.
