The winning team in the club classic, sponsored by P.J. Donnellan Engine Spares, was Andrew Prior, Peter Geraghty, Tom Judge and John Martin with a great score of 96 points. In second place were Tony Costello, Cathal Gunn, John Carr and Michael Crean with 93 points. In third place were the all family Connaughton team of Paula, Michael, Kevin and Alan with 92 points. Captain Albert Looby expressed his sincere thanks to P. J. Donnellan for his generous sponsorship and to the 46 teams who supported the important fundraising classic.The winner of the Open Friday competition was Brian Campbell with 39 points. Allan Hill (junior) was in second place with 40 points. Mary Croughan won the ladies’ competition with 34 points. The winner of the ladies’ Tuesday competition, sponsored by Ross Office Supplies, was Carmel Walker with 36 points. In second place was Mary Mellett with 35 points and Maddy Daly was in third place with 33 points. On Thursday the Over 55s had the competition for their Captain Michael Relihan’s prize. The winner was Tom Gilleran. In second place was Tommy Farrell and Jim Finn was in third place. Over sixty seniors played in the competition and all enjoyed a delicious meal in the clubhouse served up by Bryan, Catherine and staff. Frances Penny won the ladies’ competition on Thursday. Bretta McCarthy was in second place, Marguerite Farrell in third place and Mary Mellett was in fourth place. There is great interest in the President’s Prize to the men as there are only four pairings left as follows: Conor Merriman v Seamus Fallon; Paul Hoare v Michael McHale; Dan O’Brien v Seamus O’Reilly; Sean McGahan v Michael Sharkey.
