It was a great week for our junior members who represented the CBS in the Connacht U15 Schools Competition and captured the first schools pennant in over twenty years. They were carried over the line by an excellent score of 42 points in testing conditions from Alan Hill which combined with a fine 38 points from Ben McGahon gave Roscommon a total of 80 points 3 points clear of St. Colman’s College, Claremorris in second place. The former winners Presentation College, Athenry were in third place. The Abbey Boys N.S. represented by Simon Walker, Alan and Kevin Connaughton finished in joint 5th overall which was a great achievement. Best individual score went to the star of the day Alan Hill with 42 points. It was also a wonderful day for Michael Corcoran who is still a primary school student in Kilteevan who had the third best score of the day of 40 points with a fabulous 22 points on the back 9. On Sunday our Fred Daly team of David Hill, Ros Murphy Sweeney, Alan Hill, James Walker, Jack McGahan, Mark Kearney and Tom Higgins had a good win over Castle Dargan.
