The winner of Joan O’Gara’s President’s Prize to the Ladies was Marie McManus with a great score of 142 over the 36 hole competition. In second place was Rosemary O’Brien with 145. Sinead Benedetti won the gross prize with 153 gross. Linda Maxwell was in third place with 149, Paula Keane in fourth place with 151, Kate Walshe in fifth place with 152 and Geraldine Relihan was in sixth place with 153. Aileen O’Gara won the prize for the best score on the first day with 71 and Marina Dolan won the prize for the best score on the second day with 71 also. The winner of the Senior Scratch Cup on Saturday, sponsored by John Paul O’Gara (Hollywood Bar), was Thomas O’Connor from Athlone with 74. David Hill was second with 76 and Alan Craven was third with 77. The winner of the Junior Scratch Cup, also sponsored by the Hollywood Bar, was Shane Freeman from Ballyhaunis with 73. In second place was another Ballyhaunis man, Cian Henry, with 76. The 1st net prize went to Jack Sharkey with 70 net and the 3rd net prize went to Peter Ryan from Tuam with 77 net. The winner of the Sunday competition, sponsored by Norio’s Restaurant, was Francis Ferguson with 37 points. David Hill was in second place with 36 (back 9) and Michael Healy was in third place with 36 points also. Eamon Smyth was the winner of the Over 55s on Thursday. Larry Doyle was in second place and Michael Sharkey was in third place. Evelyn Bruen won the ladies’ competition. Detta Cox was in second place and Moira Regan was in third place.

Well done to the Ladies’ Fourball Team who beat Castlehume Golf Club in the first round of the Miele Fourball Competition on Wednesday 21st May. Well done also to the Pierce Purcell team who won against Mountbellew Golf Club.  Best wishes to the Mixed Foursomes Team who are playing Castlerea this Wednesday.

The President’s Prize to the men has reached the quarter final stage and there are very evenly matched competitions to follow. The Club Classic, sponsored by P.J. Donnellan Engine Spares, takes place on this Saturday and Sunday and there are excellent prizes for the winning teams.
