The winner of the Michael Craven Cup competition on Sunday, sponsored by XLNT Signs, was Willie Doyle with 40 points (back 9). In second place was Vincent Pierse with 40 points also. Tom Greally Jnr. won the gross prize with 34 points and Simon Walker was in third place with 30 points.The winner of the Open Friday competition was Barry Garvin with 42 points. In second place was Michael Corcoran (Junior) with 43 points. Ethel Keenan won the ladies’ competition with 42 points. Mary Seymour won the Category A prize in the Tuesday ladies’ competition, sponsored by Pat Tully Heating and Plumbing. Marina Dolan won the Category B prize and Mary Croughan was the winner of the Category C prize. Benny Mulherne won the Over 55s competition on Thursday. Michael O’Connor was in second place and Des Bruen was in third place. June Halliday won the ladies’ competition. Evelyn Bruen was in second place and Fen Thompson was in third place. The final of the Ladies’ Spring League was played on Sat 26th April and kindly sponsored by Linda Maxwell.The winning team won by a half point and the winners were Mary Lennon, Siobhan Cox Carlos, Marina Dolan, Geraldine Relihan, Aileen O’Gara, Sandra Kelly, Jacqui Maxwell and Catherine Mulryan. The runner up team was Noreen O’Grady, Joan Hannon, Ruth Kilduff, Gertie Spillane, June Haliday, Joan O’Gara, Yvonne Waldron, and Moira Regan.Our Fred Daly team of Sean Doyle, David Hill, Ross Murphy Sweeney, Alan Hill, James Walker, Jack McGahan and Mark Kearney lost out to a highly fancied Co. Sligo team by 4 matches to 3. It was a superb performance from the boys and Captain Albert Looby complimented the team and their convenors Albert O’ Connor and John Walker on the excellent manner that they represented the club. There were 143 entries for President Joan O’Gara’s prize to the men and the draw took place on Sunday evening. All the first round of matches must be played by next Sunday.
