The winners of the men’s fourball , sponsored by Waldron’s Meats, over the bank holiday weekend were Seamus Byrne and Eugene Finneran with 46 points. In second place were Alan Craven and Michael McHale with 43 points. Angela Hewitt won the ladies’ nine hole competition on Bank Holiday Monday with 19 points. The winner of the Open Friday competition was Tommy Fallon with an excellent 45 points. Simon Walker was in second place with 44 points. Mary Seymour was the Category A winner of the ladies’ Tuesday competition, sponsored by Pat Tully Heating and Plumbing, with 37 points. Marina Dolan was the Category B winner with 38 points and Mary Croughan was the Category B winner with 39 points. Pearse Mellett won the Over 55s competition on Thursday. Des Bruen was in second place and Jim Finn was in third place. Mary Jo O’Riordan won the ladies’ competition. Kay Ruane was in second place. Bretta McCarthy was in third place and Monica Lennon was the best of the 36 handicappers. The final of the ladies’ Spring League takes place on this Saturday with the presentation of prizes afterwards. The draw for President Joan O’Gara’s prize to the men takes place on Sunday and there is already big entry but there is still time to add names to the entry sheet on the men’s notice board.
