The winner of the Sunday competition, sponsored by David Hynes Pharmacy, was Brian Feeley with 39 points. Alan Hill (junior) was in second place with 40 points. David Hill won the gross prize with 36 points and Tom Healy was in third place with 37 points.

The winner of the White Elephant Competition on Tuesday was President Joan O’Gara with 37 points (back 9). In second place was Marie McManus with 37 points also. Ruth Lennon won the gross prize with 34 points and Evelyn Bruen was in third place with 35 points. John McHale won the Open Friday competition with 40 points (back 9). Martin Fitzgibbon from Athlone was in second place with 40 points also. The winner of the Over55s on Thursday was John O’Donnell. Jimmy Kelly was in second place and Tommy Farrell was in third place. Mary Pender won the ladies’ competition. Fen Thompson was in second  place and Catherine Mulryan was in third place. It was a good week for Sean Brennan. He won the Smithwick’s cup overcoming  Pat O’Brien in the final. He and his playing partner Noreen O’Grady won the club Mixed Foursomes getting the better of Marina Dolan and Tom Costello in the final. The Open Parent and Child competition, sponsored by the MacGuigan Family, takes place on Saturday 13th September the day after the Club Rossie Classic. On Saturday 13th there will be a table quiz in the clubhouse to raise funds to help with the considerable expense involved in  having the Ladies Senior Foursomes team contesting the All Ireland finals in Monkstown Golf Club, Cork from the 24th  to 27th September. It is a fantastic achievement and a great honour for the club and members are encouraged to get involved and get their friends to form teams of four. The entry fee is €10 per person.
