Day 2 of Lady Captain Bernie Browne’s Prize took place on Saturday and the winner was MaryEdit Cunningham with a great score of 142 for the 36 hole competition. In second place was Ruth Lennon with 144. Mary Seymour won the gross prize with 165 and Marguerite Farrell was in third place with 144. Marie McManus was in fourth place with 145, Mary Lalor was fifth with 145 also and Mary O’Keeffe was in sixth place with 147. Other prize-winners were Joan O’Gara (Past Lady Captain’s Prize), Joan Hannon (Best 18 holes Day 1), Joan O’Gara (Best 18 holes Day 2), Madeline Daly (Best 36 Handicapper), Anne Cuttle (Beginners), Kitty Gately (Improvers), Ailbhe Donnellan and Chloe O’Connor (Juniors),  and Fen Thompson (Seniors). Willie Weldon won the Lady Captain’s Prize to the men. The presentation of prizes took place in the clubhouse on Saturday night and President Joan O’Gara and Captain Albert Looby both complimented Bernie on her dedication and hard work as Lady Captain and on her contribution to the club over the years. Lady Captain Bernie availed of the opportunity to express her thanks to all the members of the Ladies’ Committee for their support and hard work and her appreciation of the support of all the members of the club.  A wonderful night of music and dance followed with the entertainment provided by Matt Rogers and Friends.

The winner of the Sunday competition, sponsored by Roscommon Tile Centre, was Michael Costello with a great score of 64 net.  P.J. Moran was in second place with 66 and Dan O’Brien was in third place with 68. Alan Hill won the gross prize with 71 gross. Brian Campbell won the Open Friday competition with 35 points and Alan Connaughton  (Junior) was in second place with 43 points. The winner of the men’s Over 55s on Thursday was Michael Relihan. Ollie Hannon was in second place and Vincent Pierse was in third place. Marguerite Farrell won the ladies’ competition. Margaret Egan was in second place and Mary Cunningham was in third place.

Next weekend is a busy one with Creggs’ Rugby Club Classic taking place on Saturday and Day 1 of Captain Albert Looby’s Prize on Sunday.
