With Spring now in the air, we would like to update our members of what is happening both on and off the course over the last few months. All our committees are very busy making our club run as smoothly as possible.

On the Course

  • The new fairway mower ordered last October 2021 – we are expecting delivery of this machine in April/May 2022.
  • We are pleased to announce we have engaged the services of Mr. Eddie Connaughton, Agronomist. Eddie has a long-standing relationship with our course over the years and it is great to have him on board to advise our course staff on what work is required and how to maintain our course to keep it in optimum condition for everyone. Eddie will be putting various work programmes in place to be completed at different stages during the year. This work will be weather permitting and will be advised to members in advance before work starts.
  • Work on the 1st / 9th lake is now completed and work on the lakes on the back nine will be completed once the weather improves.
  • Great work is being done by Tony and staff in improving our course paths, removing the old rushes and power hosing the car parks. Members, please continue to use air cleaners and brushes at the 18th green to help keep the car park and surrounding areas clean and tidy for everyone.
  • We are pleased to confirm that the club was successful in the 2020 Sports Capital & Equipment Programme allocations announced last Friday by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport & Media. The club was allocated a grant of €55,834 to help with improvement in our short game practice area and purchase of a green’s roller. This grant is a great boost to help the club develop these areas in the coming years. We would like to thank all members who were involved in applying, submitting and following up with our application.

Off the Course

  • You will notice Michael Cleary and his staff are now wearing lovely Red Roscommon Golf Club polo shirts. A welcome addition by staff and members.
  • The 2022 Fixture Booklet is with the printers and will be available to members shortly in booklet and pdf format.
  • The club has entered the 2022 Golf Ireland Interclub match play competitions for both men and ladies. We would encourage members to join the panels for these match play competitions in the coming months as it is a great honour and experience to represent the club.
  • Finally, we would like to thank all members who have already paid their 2022 subscription and remind anyone who must pay their subscription can contact our registrar Paul Hoare on 086 298 6765. Without your subscriptions we cannot continue the great work being done by our committees and course staff.

Thank you members for all your continued support and we all look forward to many games of golf during 2022.
