Congratulations to Seamus Fallon winner of Captain Ken Kearney’s Prize 2015. All competitors played the first 18 holes and the top 27 qualifiers played an additional 9 holes on Sunday evening in atrocious weather conditions. Seamus finished with a score of 105.5 nett for the 27 holes just half a shot clear of runner-up Francie Grehan on 106 and one shot better than John Carter in third place. The other prize-winners were: 1st Gross Enda Daly, 4th nett Tom Donohue, 2nd Gross Liam Casey, 5th nett Charlie Farrell, Past Captain’s Jack Halliday, Seniors Michael Sharkey, 1st 18 hole nett Kevin Glynn, Junior Boys 1st Simon Walker, 2nd Alan Connaughton, Beginner Boys Nathan O’Connor, Boys Putting competition James Lynch, Ladies 1st prize Kate Walshe 2nd Mary Seymour. The presentation took place in a packed clubhouse on Sunday night. Lady Captain Marie McManus introduced Captain Ken Kearney and listed his impressive achievements in winning a host of major amateur competitions and representing both Connacht and Ireland on numerous occasions. Ken thanked all who had participated in the competition and congratulated the winners. He expressed his appreciation of the hard work carried out by all the committee members and the support he had received from the members in general. He thanked his own family for their loyal support. Once the formalities were over a great social night of music and dance was enjoyed by all.

Francie Noone won the Open Friday competition with 37 points. The Category 1 winner of the ladies’ Tuesday competition, sponsored by Galaxy Hair & Beauty, was Ruth Lennon with 71 nett. Joan Hannon was the Category 2 winner with 75 nett and Mary Pender was the Category 3 winner with 80 nett. Charlie Brennan won the Over 55’s competition on Thursday. Eddie Moran was in second place and John McGrath was in third place. Kay Ruane won the ladies’ competition and Mary Jo O’Riordan was in second place. Mary Mellett was in third place and Jackie Maxwell was in fourth place. Our Jack O’Sullivan team and our ladies’ Meile Fourball team both lost out in close competitions at the semi-final stage during the week. Good luck to all the ladies participating in President Cathal McConn’s Prize to the ladies during the week. Good luck to the Junior Foursomes team who take on Barna on Saturday. The draw for the President’s Prize to the men is on the notice board and the preliminary round must be played by 8th August.
