The winner of the Sunday competition was Alan Craven with 39 points. John Walker was in second place with 37 points.The winner of the ladies’ weekly 9-hole competition was Mary Lalor with 22 points. Teresa Browne was in second place with 19 points. Eamon Smyth won the Over 55s competition on Thursday. Michael Dolan was in second place and Ollie Hannon was in third place. Mary Lalor won the ladies’ competition and Mary Cunningham was in second place. Marguerite Farrell was in third place and Phylis O’Shaughnessy was in fourth place.

The AGM took place on Sunday evening. The outgoing President Joan O’Gara complimented the outgoing Captain Albert Looby, the outgoing Lady Captain Bernie Browne, all the officers and members of committees on their contribution to the successful running of the club during the year. She commented on the increase in membership during the year and the increase in visitors playing the course. She highlighted the efficient hosting of the Mid-Amateur competition, the Connacht Ladies Championship and the Connacht Ladies Past Captains competition during the year. She said that the feedback from the participants was very positive and she complimented Ian Gannon and the course staff on the excellent condition of the course. She also complimented Bryan Keogh and the bar staff on looking after both members and visitors with courtesy and good service. She conveyed her appreciation of the loyal sponsors of club competitions. She expressed her best wishes to Michael Connaughton as he takes over the Presidency of the G.U.I. from February. It was a tremendous honour for the club to have one of their members in the most prestigious position in amateur golf in Ireland. Finally Joan proposed Cathal McConn for the position of President in the coming year. Cathal was seconded by Noel Farrell and was approved unanimously by the meeting.
