Lady Captain’s Prize: The Lady Captain’s Prize (Una Clay) will take
place this week. Round one is on Tuesday and the final round is on
Saturday. The annual Lady Captain’s dinner and presentation of prizes
will take place in the club house at approx 8pm. There will be music and
dancing afterwards and everyone is welcome.
Inter-Club: The ladies team had an excellent win against Athlone in the
Mary McKenna Cup last week. The men’s Fred Perry team play against
Swinford in the second leg of the Connacht final on this Saturday at
2pm. The score from the first leg is 2-2. Good luck to Ollie Dempsey and
his team.
Thomas Higgins: The club welcomed home Thomas Higgins on Sunday
night last after he led Ireland to win the European Amateur
Championships in Estonia on Saturday. In addition to sinking the winning putt in the play-off Thomas was one of Ireland’s best performers
throughout the week. (See story elsewhere)
Olivia Costello and Cian O’Connor: Olivia Costello played for Ireland in
the European championships last week in Slieve Russell. Ireland
finished 8th . Cian O’Connor was one of Connacht’s best performers in
the Interprovincial championships last week in Knightsbrook. Well done
both.
South of Ireland: Best of luck to both Thomas Higgins and Cian
O’Connor who play in the South of Ireland championships at Lahinch
starting on Wednesday 22 nd July.
