Inter-Club: Well done to the ladies Mary McKenna team who defeated Castlebar last week. No luck for our Junior Cup team defeated by Tuam on Friday evening last. The Fred Perry team defeated Dunmore on Saturday in a play-off so well done to all involved. The Barton Shield team defend their Connacht title this coming weekend at Galway Golf Club. Roscommon will tee off at 12.30pm and 12.40pm on Saturday in the qualifying section. We wish the team the best of luck.
Olivia Costello: Our international star Olivia Costello finished third in the Irish Women’s Amateur Open at Newlands Golf Club at the weekend. She was three shots behind the winner Louise Landgraff of France. She ended her tournament on level par overall and it was another magnificent performance from Olivia against a top class field with many of the top European players in the field.
Mary Smith RIP: The club extends it’s sympathy to the family of the late Mary Smyth who was Lady Captain of the club in 1990. She was an excellent teacher over many decades at the Convent of Mercy secondary school and a popular character involved in many organisations in the local area including Roscommon Golf Club. May she rest in peace.
