Bad Weather: The bad weather meant that there was no competition over the weekend. It is hoped that the usual men’s 15hole club competition sponsored by Hanly Motors will be played this coming weekend. Details on BRS system.
Olivia Costello: It was another superb week for Olivia Costello who
played for Ireland in a quadrangular tournament in Spain last week.
Ireland defeated Austria Belgium and Germany to reach the final but were defeated by France. Olivia won all her six matches over the first three days but lost in the foursomes against France before halving her match in the singles. A return of six and a half points out of eight ensured that Olivia was Ireland’s top scorer. Well done on behalf of everyone at the club.
Brian Campbell RIP: The club would like to extend it’s sympathy to the family of the late Brian Campbell who served on committee for many years and as captain of the men’s club in the year 2000. Brian was also a very prominent player for the club over many decades and he won both the captains’ and president’s prizes on a number of occasions. May he rest in peace. There will be a guard of honour from the club when the funeral arrangements are known.
