TOMMY GREALY SNR RIP

There is deep sadness in the club following the passing of Tommy Grealy senior at the weekend. Tommy was one of the clubs’ most prominent members and officers going back several decades.

He was a fantastic character and great fun and it was always a pleasure to be in his company.

He was a superb businessman and a fixture at The Abbey Hotel where he and Aine and the family were instrumental in building up the hugely successful business over many decades.

He was a household name in golfing circles and he spent a lifetime in Roscommon Golf Club as a member and Captain. He served on committee for many years in Roscommon and was one of those instrumental in having the course become an 18 hole facility in 1995. He also was one of the most popular Presidents of the GUI in many decades when he assumed that role in 1999. Tommy was an honorary life member of Roscommon Golf Club.

A lot of people may not know that Tommy also played football for Roscommon Gaels at minor level and played for Roscommon minors too before a knee injury cut short his football career.

To Aine, Adrian, Tommy Junior, Mary Claire, and Robert to daughters in law, son in law and grandchildren and to his extended family and to everyone at the Abbey Hotel the club extends it’s deepest sympathy.

May he rest in peace.
