Congrats to Simon Walker and Cian o’ Connor for winning the Connacht u18 and Connacht u16 Order of Merits for 2019. This caps a great end to the season for both boys and is a reward for all their great play, dedication and hard work this year.The boys will be presented with their awards at the Connacht GUI Presentation Dinner on Tues 26th Nov.

Simon and Thomas were also rewared with fine performances for 2019 and 2018 with an inviation recently to the Darren Clarke Foundation event in Spain last weekend.

The Fred Daly Squad are being honoured for their All-Ireland success by Roscommmon County Council at a Civic Reception being held on Wed 4th December 2019 at 5.30pm. Well done again boys.

Congrats to Thomas and Simon for finishing joint 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Munster Boys Amateur Open in Ballybunion last week in the last of the Boys championships for 2019. Cian and Fionn also made the cut in the event with Cian having a super round of 69 on the last day.

Nathan and Jamie O’ Connor and Conor and Luke Golden competed in a Junior Team event in Esker Hills organised by their Junior Organiser Brendan Lowry Dad of Shane during the Halloween break and while Shane was not present on the day, the Claret Jug was on display and plenty of photos were taken by all!

Best of luck to Simon, Thomas, Cian and Fionn competing in the Munster Boys Amateur Open this week. Also best of luck to Olivia competing in the All Ireland Junior Medal competition this week.

A very successful End -of- Season Junior Scramble was held on Sat 19th October with almost 30 of our junior members taking part in a mixed fun event with prizes for all presented by the Club Captain Paul Cuttle. Both the President and Lady Captain commended the junior golfers for their achievements during the year and encouraged all our up and coming juniors to continue to play and enjoy the sport. They also expressed sincere thanks to the Junior Committee of the club and in particular outgoing Junior Convenors Michael Connaughton and Ruth Lennon for all their work with the Junior Club during the last no. of years. Boys Junior Convenor Michael expressed huge thanks to Club Pro Philip Murphy for all his work with the boys and girls during the year as well as thanking fellow Junior Convenor Ruth and Junior Committee members, parents and club members for their huge support of junior golf in the club. This brought the curtain down an a great year for our Juniors where our ” Senior” Juniors had many great successes and a number of our up and coming juniors also got a chance to represent our club in Junior Interclub competitions for the first time with more receiving their handicaps.

Congratulations to Thomas Higgins on his recent selection on the Ireland U16 panel to play England. Ireland emerged winners from the two days of tough competition at Hunstanton GC with a 16.5-13.5 victory.

Congratulation to Roscommon CBS U19 Golf team who won the Connacht Schools Final 2019/2020 recently. This is the 3rd year in a row the boys have won this competition.

More good news from the Junior section this week as Thomas Higgins has been selected for the Irish Under 16 Boys Team to play England in Hunstanton GC from 12-13 October. Well done Thomas and the very best of luck to you next week.

Olivia Costello our fabulous Junior Girl golfer has had a number of successes in the last week. Olivia has qualified as one of the top 60 junior girls in the country to compete for the ILGU Junior Medal to be played at Seapoint Golf Club on 30th October and last weekend Olivia qualified to play in the Champion of Champions Flogas Irish Junior Open Series following her runner-up finish last weekend. Well done Olivia- we are all very proud of your achievements.

Our junior lessons with Professional Philip Murphy concluded on Sat last 14th Sept . There has been a great turnout of boys and girls all summer and many thanks to Philip for his time , his energy and enthusiasm with the children . Thanks also to Junior Convenors Ruth , Sandra , Michael for co-ordinating and all who assisted during the summer. An end of season scramble is being planned for all and details will be circulated when date is confirmed.

Congratulations to Cian O’ Connor who has won the U16 category in the Fore Connacht Order of Merit for 2019. It is a very well deserved reward for playing well consistently on the U16 circuit this year and also for his hard work and dedication to the game. Cian also had a great performance at the Italian Boys Under 16 Championship last week finsining 2nd best of the Irish players just outside the top 20 of 140 competitors.

Well done to another of our brightest stars, Olivia Costello on winning the under 15 Silver Salver at the Seapoint Scratch Cup at the weekend.Olivia is having a super season and as with Cian all her hard work and dedication to the game has been rewarded.
