The first competitions of Open Week, on Sunday, was husband and wife / mixed foursomes and was sponsored by Molloy’s Home Bakery. The winners of the husband and wife competition were Mary and Michael Lennon; 2nd, Nuala and Tom Costello; 3rd, John and Carmel Walker. Bernie Browne and George Bannon won the mixed competition.
The winner of the Club Fourball, sponsored by Seamus O’Reilly, was Andy Lawlor & Francie Grehan, with the runner up spot going to Eddie Miley & Michael Dolan. The Smithwicks Cup, sponsored by Keen Print, was won by Tom Costello and the runner up was David Casey.
The ladies’ 18-hole competition last week, sponsored by The Comfy Café, was won by Sheila Fallon on 69; 2nd, Patricia Donnelly, 70; 3rd, Chloe O’Connor.
Men’s seniors’ results: 1st, Tom Judge, 36 pts; Cat 1, Jim Finn; Cat 2, Seamus Mulhern; Cat 3, Pat McDonagh.
Ladies’ seniors’ results; 1st, Frances Penny; 2nd, Geraldine Hoban; 3rd, Ann Gately.
The ladies’ senior team will be competing in the All Ireland senior cup finals on the 25th and 26th August, at The Royal Curragh Golf Club. Their first match will be against The Island Golf Club. The other golf clubs taking part in the final are Killarney, Kilkenny, The Heath, Royal Co. Down, Lahinch and Royal Port Rush. It is a great achievement to reach the finals of this competition and we wish them well in their endeavour.

Open week continues until next Sunday 27th, with men’s and ladies’ competitions each day, and a men’s fourball on Friday 25th. Entry is €15 for visitors and €8 for members.
