Congratulations to the ladies’ team who won the ILGU Connacht Senior Cup at Castlebar on Sunday. The team comprised of Ciara Ryan, Chloe O’Connor, Aisling Hill, Ruth Lennon and Paula Quinn. This was a great win as the team was up against formidable opposition from Galway Golf Club, Galway Bay Golf Club and Ballinasloe Golf Club. Roscommon Golf Club is proud or their achievement. The team will now play in the All Ireland Final, next August, which will take place at TheRoyal Curragh Golf Club.
The men’s competition on Sunday, which was sponsored by Lawlor and Hynes Construction, was won by Micheal Healy with 43 pts; 2nd, Cathal McConn, 39 pts; 3rd, Brian Campbell, 37 pts; Gross, Alan Craven, 36 pts; Junior, Simon Walker, 41 pts.
The results of the ladies’ competition last week were: 1st, Mary Seymour, 37 pts (back 9); 2nd, Sinead Benedetti, 37 pts; 3rd, Mary O’Gara, 35 pts.
The men’s open seniors’ competition last week was won by Ollie Hannon with 36 pts; 2nd, Sergio Benedetti, 36 pts; Gross, Richard Browne, 21 pts.
On Wednesday, 24th May, Roscommon will play Ballinasloe in the inter-club Mixed Foursomes. They will also play Ballinasloe in the Jimmy Bruen Shield on Saturday, 27th, May. Best of luck to all teams involved.
