Bunker Restoration Program

(03 Mar 2010)
Members may have noticed that the course staff are undertaking to remodel the bunker at the 14th hole. The older bunkers on the course have exceeded their lifespan. Typically a bunker needs remedial works approximately every 5 to 7 years, our older bunkers have had no work of this nature since the course extension of 1996.

The bunker sand and drains are at a stage of extreme contamination. The course staff under the guidance of Ken Kearney, Course Chairman, are unsing the 14th bunker as a test case. The contaminated sand and material has been removed as well as the drainage which was not working. The bunker floor is to be re-graded and surrounds to be re-turfed. Once this work has been completed and consolidated new sand lines will be cut and new bunker sand place in the bunker. The area will be marked as GUR and we appreciate Members patience and understanding while we undertake the above works.
