Major Award for Jack

Jack Halliday was recently presented with the ‘Mayo Crystal Award’ for services to golf in Connacht. Jack was President of Roscommon Golf Club in 1965 and Captain in 2001. In the 70’s Jack was Captain of the Roscommon County Golf Team and he has both played on and Captained many other club teams down through the years. He served as Hon. Secretary between 1971 and 1980, and has carried out many other functions within the club including Course Chairman, which involved many hours spend on the course improving things in conjunction with the staff. Jack is presently a member of the Management Team. Jack is always willing to help out in any way he can and can be seen whistling in and around the clubhouse. A gifted man, Jack has repaired clubs or a caddy-car for almost every Member and continues to do so in his quiet efficient way. The award is very fitting and well deserved and Roscommon Golf Club were delighted to propose Jack for this honour. We wish to take this opportunity to congratulate Jack and thank him for his many, many hours of service to the club and to wish him and his family every success for the future.
